This was the original recipe that we modified. We actually never used any dark sweet cherries just all maraschino cherries. We also took out the sweetened condensed milk. We made it a couple of times a couple different ways but it always seemed to come out really sweet. It was good though. I liked the almond extract flavor.
Cherry cheescake ice cream 3 oz Cream cheese; softened 1 cn Sweetened condensed milk 2 c Half & half 2 c Whipping cream, unwhipped 1 tb Vanilla 1/2 ts Almond extract 17 oz Dark sweet cherries; pitted - well drained -OR- 10 oz Maraschino cherries; drained - chopped
In large mixer bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually add sweetened condensed milk until smooth. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. Pour into ice cream freezer container. Freeze according to manufacturer's directions.
Makes 1-1/2 quarts

Here's another that is VERY good (if you like pineapple)
HOMEMADE PINEAPPLE ICE CREAM
2-½ Cups of Sugar 4 Eggs Big Can of Crushed Pineapple 1 tsp. of Vanilla Shake of Salt ½ Pint of Whipping Cream ½ Gallon of Whole Milk
Put all ingredients into the freezer in the order listed. Add the milk last up to the “Fill” line of the freezer. It probably will not take all of the milk.
1 Box of Ice Cream Salt/Rock Salt 2-3 Bags of Ice
