to have a small garden A guy that works with Roger said he would let us borrow his rotatiller (sp?), so I went and bought some green beans, zucchini, and yellow squash seeds. I will buy a tomato plant and some pepper plants a bit later since I want those ones started already. What are some of your favorite veggies to grow? Do you think a mesh fence will keep all of my critters out? Does anyone know if raccoons will climb into the garden? Any gardening tips would be appreciated since I've never grown a veggie garden before!

Put human hair around your garden, it will keep the critters out because of the human scent. You can ask a local beauty salon to bag all their cut hair for the day for you. We love peppers, green beans, purple hull peas, ford hooks, corn, cucumbers and many more. Every year I like to add one more veggie that I have not grown before into the garden. Plus we always have one row just for James to plant what he likes. He loves to plant sunflowers and carrots, plus he saw some purple taters he wants to plant.

Yay! I am happy for you! I love my garden! We put up 6' high mesh fence for deer and cats for this year. I used to work at a nursery and we suggested human hair or bone/blood meal (depending on the critters the meal doesn't always work) We planted zuccini, pumpkins, yellow squash, cucumber (3 different kinds) watermelon, corn, peppers, tomatos, carrots, onions, radishes, sunflowers around the side and we are still deciding the rest. We also love to plant new things we have not grown before.
