utensils to eat? Zach will feed himself with his hands, and he will hold a spoon or fork and put it to his bowl and then back out again, but he hasn't got the whole put it in the bowl, then the mouth thing yet.

Hmmm. I think Elli was just over a year when she started messing around with them. She is 17 months now and is a real pro. She can eat cereal in the morning and is quite an expert at jabbing her food with her fork! So I would say at like 14-15 months she had it down real well.

Good question. Josh is almost 11 years old and I still have to remind him to use utensils!!! ;D

Thanks Kimmie. He does play with them, I think maybe he's just stubborn then since he knows we would like to see him use his spoon at least. I think I'm going to have a little handful with him.

Oh the joy of boys! The way we worked with Elli was we sat her down with her plate and gave her the fork, then we helped her use it the first time and then we clapped and said yea! And after that she wanted to do it just to get a clap. So now every once in awhile she will look at us and wait for us to clap. She is such a mommy and daddy pleaser! As for spoons we use these ones that have little holes all over the actually spoon part so that things kind of "stick" to it so they dont lose it on the way to the mouth. They work great! Good luck!!
